Do I really want a boat?

I see a lot of boats where I live but do I really want one? Dad had one when I was a kid and I remember he spent a lot of time on upkeep and a lot of money on licenses, registrations and insurance. I really can't justify having one given the amount of time I would probably use it. Do you have one? Has it been worth it?

I, for one, wouldn't want a boat for the reasons you mentioned, expense, upkeep, etc. However, even if I were a multimillionaire, I still wouldn't want a boat. I'd rather spend my money on traveling, or even, cars, not the overly expensive kind, just for variety. Boats are a very "ego specific" type of desire.

I don't own a boat, but I would love to have one. I would rather have a boat and spend my whole time on it (I would have to live in a country where it's sunny all year long though), than have a car.
