Sprecn? Whaaaaat?Sprecn is a phonetic transcription of the German word sprechen (?p??çn?, say it like "spreshen"), which means to speak, to talk, to say something.
HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE SITERegistration:
Click the the "Register" button at the top left of any page
Enter your information:
- Email address (we use this to send you an email to activate your account - you MUST activate your account using the link that is sent in the activation email)
- First Name (we don't need or want your last name, so please don't provide it)
Click the "Register" button at the top left of any page
Click the Twitter, Facebook, or Google login button to register with your existing social network account
Follow the directions to register and log in
USING THE FORUMHow to post to the forum:
NOTE: new members have to answer a Captcha challenge for their first three posts
From within a category -- click the "Start New Topic" button at the top or bottom of topic list
From any page --click the "Start New Topic" button at the top of the site (make sure you select the appropriate category from the dropdown list on the posting page)
How to reply to a post:
Click the "Reply" button below any post to add your reply at the bottom of the thread.
How to quote a post:
To quote a previous post and include that post's content in your reply, click the "Reply with Quote" button below the post that you want to quote. The original post will appear in your reply.
How to favorite/subscribe to a thread:
To favorite a thread, click the "Favorite" button at the top or bottom of the thread.
To subscribe to a thread, click the "Subscribe" button at the top or bottom of the thread.
To view your subscriptions or favorites, click your username at the top left of the site and select "My Subscriptions" or "My Favorites" from the dropdown.
How to subscribe to a forum:
To subscribe to a forum and be notified of all new topics in that category, click the "Subscribe" button at the top or bottom of the topic list.
I SEE SPAM, WHAT DO I DO???
At the bottom right of the post, click the "Report to Moderator" button and we'll look into it.
POSTING TIPS AND TRICKSHow to edit a post:
Click the "Edit" button at the bottom of your post. There is a 10 minute time limit for edits -- edits can't be made 10 minutes after your post is submitted.
How to insert or attach an image:
You can insert or attach the following image types (4MB max): bmp, gif, jpg, jpeg, png, tif, tiff.
In your post input box, click the textbox next to "Insert Image" (below the Message section). Select an image from your device and click "Insert." The image will then appear in-line in your post. You can place up to two images in a post.
NOTE: if you select "Attach" instead of "Insert, your image will be attached to your post, but will not appear within the post.
How to embed a video in a post:
In your post input box, click the Video (filmstrip) icon at the top of the Formatting section. Select the video provider from the Provider pulldown, and in the ID textbox copy the video ID from the provider (see YouTube example below). The video will appear in your post.
For example, for a YouTube video with the URL [ www.youtube.com ]/watch?v=IBrCaVySmDU], you would select "YouTube" as the Provider and "IBrCaVySmDU" as the ID.
How to insert an image from another website:
In your post input box, click the Image Link (photo) icon at the top of the formatting section. Copy the URL into the URL textbox. The image will appear in your post.
How to insert a link to another webpage:
In your post input box, click the Link icon at the top of the formatting section. Copy the URL into the URL textbox, and the text you want to appear in your post into the Text textbox. The link will appear in your post (it will show as the text you input, and link to the URL).
How to display code (mostly for the coding/development forums):
In your post input box, click the Code icon at the top of the formatting section. Enter your code between the tags.
How to hide text from users that aren't registered or signed in:
In your post input box, click the Shield icon (Hide Text from Guests) at the top of the formatting section. Enter whatever you'd like to hide between the tags.
PRIVATE MESSAGINGHow to access your private message center:
At the top of category, topic, and thread pages, click "Private Messages" or at the top left of any page, click your username and select "Messaging" from the drawdown.
How to send a private message:
Note: to reduce spam, new members may have to wait 24 hours after registering to be able to send a private message.
In a post, click the private messaging icon (on the left side, below the user's post count and points)
Elsewhere on the site, click a member's username and on their profile page, click the private messaging icon next to Send a Message on the left side
From your messaging center, click "Compose" and type the recipients username into the "To" box. Type your message and click Send.
Private message attachments:
The following image file types can be attached to a private message (4MB max): bmp, gif, jpg, jpeg, png, tif, tiff.
Can I block someone from sending me messages?
Yes, at the right side of the message, click "Block."
