I recently started watching the Amazon series Z: The Beginning of Everything, based on the marriage of F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife, Zelda. I am enjoying the series so much that I decided to read a biography of Zelda Fitzgerald. I had no idea that Zelda was not only the basis for most of F. Scott Fitzgerald's most notable female characters, but that he actually stole ideas out of her journals. She was an accomplished writer in her own right, but she never got the credit she richly deserved because Scott actually undermined her success by laying claim to her writing! His argument was that her writings were the basis for his writings and because he was worth more monetarily, he should get credit for her work!

Zelda was a tragic creature who spent the last 20 years of her life in and out of mental institutions as a diagnosed schizophrenic. Reading her biography certainly cast F. Scott Fitzgerald in a different light for me. I will never look the same at his books.
